Porto de Galinhas is in truth a number of beaches, each with its own unique characteristics and beauty. Perhaps the greatest problem is choosing the best. Read on to learn a little about each beach and then come and see for yourself!

Maracaípe
Maracaipe is considered a surfers’ paradise and forms part of the global surfing circuit - a place filled with young, beautiful people. At night, it’s well worth visiting Vila de Todos os Santos with its host of beachside bars. If you’re looking for somewhere for a slightly dip in slightly calmer waters, try Pontal de Maracaipe, with its wonderful combination of river and sea, a mixture of mangrove swamp and beach. Don’t miss taking a trip on a skiff through the swamp, where you’ll see seahorses, protected voluntarily by local fishermen.

Muro Alto
This beautiful beach is formed by an immense wall of coral (hence the name – “High Wall”) creating an enormous natural swimming pool.

Gamboa
A continuation of Muro Alto, with wonderful views of the mangroves and Porto de Suape.

Praia do Cupe
A long stretch of white sand where many of the area’s hotels are to be found. Don’t miss taking a buggy trip along the length of the beach. Essential!
